Veteran actor Farooq Shaikh passed away in Dubai after suffering a heart attack. He was 65.
The versatile actor, who marked his debut with Garm Hava (1973), gave a new lease of life to parallel cinema in the 1970s and 80s. Shaikh, who has been a part of cult classics like Shatranj Ke Khilari, Chashme Buddoor and Noorie to name a few, was last seen in 2013 blockbuster hit Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Club 60.
After completing the formalities in Dubai, his body will be brought to India later in the day.
Back home, Bollywood celebrities were shocked to hear about Farooq Shaikh’s demise. They took to the social networking website Twitter to express their anguish.
