Miss Lovely gets A certificate

Censor Board granted C-grade adult thriller MISS LOVELY 'A' certificate lately.

Reworked out of a shelved documentary on illegal sex-horror films in the lower depths of Bollywood, MISS LOVELY, a film by Ashim Ahluwalia is a startling piece of cinema that explores a sordid tale of betrayal and doomed love. His first narrative feature, the film is an ode to renegade film making that flouts genre conventions to conjure up a world that very few of us have access to.

he film follows Vicky and Sonu Duggal, played by Anil George and
Nawazuddin Siddiqui, two brothers struggling to produce illegal
sex-horror films in the mid 1980's. It explores the intense and
mutually destructive relationship between the Duggal brothers and a
struggling actress Pinky, played by Niharika Singh.

Besides winning the Best Film Award at the 14th Mumbai International Film Festival, the 'Reliance Media Works CreaTech (Creativity and Technology) Award' and Best Feature Film Award at the 11th Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles and the official selection of Un Certain Regard in Cannes Film Festival, globally, MISS LOVELY has fascinated just about everybody.

Deconstructing the morally bankrupt industry one fragment at a time, MISS LOVELY can be easily misunderstood for its original storytelling and controversial content.

Director Ashim Ahluwalia was surprised by the excitement the film has generated worldwide, from being an official entry to Cannes and Toronto to winning numerous "Best Film" awards. "For the West, Indian cinema is either Satyajit Ray or Bollywood. MISS LOVELY, on the other hand, is a mix of so many different genres, with a storytelling style and atmosphere that is pretty wild. It sometimes moves like a novel with multiple characters and side stories. I didn't expect people to react to it so enthusiastically," says the director

The 'A' certification doesn't matter for this director either.

"The story does take place in the dark, lower depths of the industry, so this is not the kind of space that we usually depict in our films. It is a very adult film that explores sexuality and violence and the things that people do to each other when they are struggling to make it in a city. I'm happy that the censor board didn't ban it and, instead, eventually opted to grant it very few cuts," adds the
filmmaker.

MISS LOVELY is all set for a January 17 India release.

The event was the first look launch of the much awaited movie 'Miss Lovely'. The movie stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Niharika Singh and is directed by Ashim Ahluwalia.

Will there be a bold scened between Arshad and Huma?

Huma is all set to impress in her new avatar.

Actress Madhuri Dixit, who will be seen on the big screen after 2007 film "Aaja Nachle", says she chose to be part of "Dedh Ishqiya" because she has faith in the makers of the film - Vishal Bhardwaj and Abhishek Chaubey.

After the success of 2010 movie "Ishqiya", director Chaubey teamed up with filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, who has produced "Dedh Ishqiya". "I didn't wait for seven years for the script. I have my reasons. I was not even living here before. I was staying abroad so to come here and work and go back was getting very tedious," Madhuri told IANS.

"That was one of the reasons I didn't do anything, but when I decided to come to India and settle here, that time I decided to read scripts and 'Dedh Ishqiya' was offered. I was confident that Vishal and Abhishek team makes good films and I would love to be part of it," she added.

Madhuri Dixit in Abhishek Chaubey’s ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ plays the role of Begum Para and has recreated the nawaabi charm and 'ada'. She will be seen performing Mujra on a song titled ‘Apke karar mein’ which is composed by Vishal Bhardwaj.

Commenting on the song, producer Ketan Maru says, “The song is ready and we will be shooting for it after we’re done filming the entire movie. I can’t reveal much but I’ll say that it is a very elaborate number which will be shot on a big set.”

The dance sequence will see Madhuri reunite with Kathak exponent Pandit Birju Maharaj. Dedh Ishqiya is a sequel to 2010 hit film Ishqiya.

The second installment will see Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi reprising their roles, while the new additions are Madhuri and Huma Qureshi.

Very few people know that Madhuri was not happy with the script and made director Abhishek Chaubey rewrite the script. As per sources, “Madhuri wanted to be a part of this film but she wanted a role as strong as Vidya Balan’s role in ‘Ishqiya’. The actress was not convinced with the script and asked Abhishek to rework on it. He worked on the script and came back to Madhuri. After the second narration, Madhuri got convinced and came on board.”

Huma Qureshi who has adored Madhuri Dixit since childhood was thrilled when she got the chance to share the screen with her. The duo bonded as they spoke about food and Madhuri's kids.

Huma who had to dance with Madhuri says, "I thought everyone had lost it when they told me about this dance number. I asked them if they were sure about having both of us in the same frame. I'm a good dancer, but I was scared and nervous. We did kathak and were choreographed by Remo (D'Souza)," she says, adding that Madhuri also encouraged her. "She gave me a hug before we shot, that helped, and she'd joke with me saying, 'I don't bite'."

Dedh Ishqiya' is a sequel to the 2010 hit 'Ishqiya' It is based in a small town in Uttar Pradesh.

The Mahmudabad palace near Barabanki was spruced up for the shoot and Madhuri Dixit performed mujra to a song titled Apne Karar Mein which was choreographed Pandit Birju Maharaj.

In this film, Madhuri is paired opposite Naseeruddin Shah whereas Arshad Warsi teams up with Huma Quereshi

Khalujaan and Babban are back with 'dedh Ishqiya'.

The first look of the second installment of Ishqiya is out and Madhuri Dixit is looking stunning as usual.

Naseeruddin Shah aka Khalujan and Arshad Warsi aka Babban are back in Abhsihek Choubey’s sequel ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ to the successful Ishqiya (2010). Giving them company in this mad riot are Madhuri Dixit and Huma Qureshi. According to sources, there are many intimate scenes between Madhuri and Naseer in the film.
