Bigg Boss 8: Five times I wanted to slap a contestant

The reality show is finally coming to an end… thank god for that, as now I no longer have to watch a bunch of losers make a big fool of them on national TV

I was just taking a trip down memory lane and thinking about how Bigg Boss season 8 began and how the contestants huffed and puffed in anger every time they didn’t get what they demanded. I remember how everyone created groups, bitched about people and who snitched on whom. Frankly, I hope they are able to live with themselves once they see the screening of their stay inside the house. Getting back to the topic at hand, there have been several situations when all I’ve wanted to do is slap the contestants for their immaturity, selfishness, vanity, greed and, more often than not, their stupidity.
Here is a list of five situations when I really wanted to leave my hand-print on their pretty faces…

#When Karishma Tanna says ‘National television’ in every statement: When the season started, Karishma would often use the ‘I am a woman’ card, whether the situation called for it or not. By mistake if someone grazed past her in a task she’d scream saying how no one is allowed to touch her because it would become a case of sexual assault. Every time someone verbally abused Tanna or even spoke rudely to her, the actor would immediately scream that she was insulted on ‘National Television’. Well every time she used the phrase, I personally wished to get up and slap her. Arrrghhh!

#Whenever Ali Quli Mirza challenges someone to hit him: Ali often got on people’s nerves (can’t say we blame them) and every time he instigated people, they would rush to beat the crap out of him. Trust me when I say this, the feeling has been mutual. I, as a viewer, have also felt like taking him up on his challenge. If you’ve seen the episodes clearly, Ali will instigate people and then challenge them to hit him by pushing his face into people’s personal space. Obviously, he knows no one will get violent with him on a public platform and he used this knowledge to his benefit everytime. Ajaz Khan was the only soul who fell for the trick- poor guy!

#When Dimpy Ganguly fakes her love and affection for Rahul Mahajan: The first time when Rahul walked into the show as a guest, it was weird to see Dimpy all emotional and weepy. Well she justified it by saying it was nostalgia, but I’m sure that was not true. The couple is getting a divorce, so then what’s the idea behind all the love and mushy behaviour. During Rahul’s fight with Karishma, Dimpy runs out and tells her ex-husband that he has been a great partner and she never had any complaints. Well when I heard that I felt like slapping Dimpy. Who are they trying to fool with their fake affection and concern? Get real people!

#When Karishma chose make up over Sushant Divgikar: When Minissha Lamba was eliminated from BB8 she gave Sushant the punishment of being everyone’s slave. However, Gautam and Karishma were given the opportunity to save him from this, but Karishma chose her make up instead. To everyone’s surprise Gautam demanded Sushant’s freedom; this incident shocked me and the contestants as well. I am not sure if Sushant wanted to express his anger, I definitely did. How selfish of Ms Tanna!

#When Bigg Boss extended the show for a month: In December 2014, we rejoiced at the idea that the show would finally come to an end and my dilemma would be over. But Bigg Boss announced an extension of the show for a month. Watching out of work actors go crazy and abuse on prime time is not what I’d call entertainment. So yes I want to slap whoever decided to stretch the show for that long.

Well this is my opinion; don’t feel shy to share what you feel about this.

Bollywood Marriages That Survived Infidelity

Infidelity marks the end of many relationships, causing heartbreak and pain, and destroying families too. The glamour industry has had its fair share of instances where men have found solace in the arms of another woman, and divorced their first wives. But as they say, love conquers all! Some marriages have survived extra-marital affairs and infidelity. Here are a few Bollywood stars whose marriages survived affairs, and yet these couples are very much in love!

Raj & Nadira Babbar: Theirs is a love story that survived the test of time. Raj found love with late actress Smita Patil and divorced Nadira. Unfortunately Smita passed away due to a heart disease. Raj Babbar and Nadira rekindled their romance post her death and remarried.

Aditya Pancholi & Zarina Wahab: Kangna's affair with actor-turned-filmmaker Aditya Pancholi came out in the open when the former filed a police complaint against him for physical abuse. Zarina Wahab accepted the fact that her husband was dating Kangna but the couple remains together.

Amitabh & Jaya Bachchan: The alleged affair between Amitabh and Rekha has been talked about for decades now and yet it never fails to spark interest. Rumour has it that Rekha and Amitabh were in a relationship while Amitabh was married to Jaya Bachchan. But the sets of Coolie, when AB was severely injured, it was Jaya who nursed him back to health, making him realise how much she loved him. Thus happened the dissolution of his affair with Rekha. Today, Jaya and Amitabh's is as strong as ever!

Dharmendra & Prakash Kaur: Dharmendra fell in love with the beautiful Hema Malini and wanted to marry her. But he was already married to Prakash with two sons. When he asked her for a divorce, she refused, forcing Dharmendra and Hema Malini to change their religion to Islam to get married.  Dharmendra, however, still lives with Prakash Kaur but is married to both women.

Shah Rukh Khan & Gauri: Isn’t everyone aware of the 3 AM visit SRK paid Pee Cee that sparked rumours of an affair brewing? The hateful looks that Gauri and Priyanka Chopra exchanged during the award functions sure did make headlines. But Gauri stuck to her man and made sure he ended the affair, which he eventually did.

Shatrughan & Poonam Sinha: Shatrughan rekindled his romance with former flame, actress Reena Roy while married to Poonam. Even Poonam was aware of it. But Shatrughan was not ready to marry Reena, forcing her to end their affair and quit Bollywood at the peak of her career. She later married Pakistani cricketer Mohsin Khan and shifted to his country.

Ajay Devgn & Kajol: If rumours are to be believed, then Ajay Devgn and Kangna had an affair while shooting for the movie Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. Apparently Ajay was all set to leave Kajol but the couple patched things up and his affair with Kangna ended. Kajol and Ajay are still very much in love.

Sanjay & Zarine Khan: Sanjay Khan (Sussanne Roshan’s father) was already married to Zarine Khan when the beautiful Zeenat Aman caught his fancy. Zeenat and Sanjay fell in love and got married.  Zeenat and Sanjay had a very public fight which resulted in Zeenat ending up in the hospital and eventually the couple divorced. Sanjay and Zarine are very much in love today, with kids and grandkids in tow.

Akshay Kumar & Twinkle Khanna: Akshay Kumar and his rumoured affair with Priyanka Chopra is still fresh in people’s memories. After doing so many movies back to back, Priyanka and Akki started a behind-the-scenes affair but eventually it came to an end. Post that we have not seen the couple together for a very long time and Twinkle and the Khiladi of Bollywood have had their second child since.
Mithun Chakraborty & Yogeeta Bali: Sridevi apparently fell in love with Mithun Chakraborty and the two got hitched in secret. When Mithun’s first wife Yogeeta Bali got to know of the whole thing, she tried to commit suicide resulting in the end of Sridevi and Mithun’s marriage. Mithun and Yogeeta are still happily married.

Plot revealed: Here is what Shahid Kapoor Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor Khans Udta Punjab is all about

Are you as excited as us to watch the trio in a film together? Then read on to find out what the movie is about…
If you were thinking that the Shahid Kapoor- Alia Bhatt- Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Udta Punjab was a light-hearted comedy or something, you couldn’t be more wrong! We recently heard that the film will star Punjabi heart-throb Diljit Dosanj opposite Kareena in the film.
So what is Udta Punjab all about. Well, the Abhishek Chaubey’s film looks at the increasing problem of drug abuse in Punjab. The thriller film will also have a drug mafia and these four characters are probably related to the same in one way or another. Udta Punjab will address the issue of drug trafficking in the state and the four actors play pivotal roles in the story!
This film is being presented by Phantom Films and it is touted to be India’s first stoner film to deal with the subject of substance abuse head-on! So far Bejoy Nambiar’s Shaitaan has come close to this topic but that too hasn’t directly addressed the matter of drug abuse specific to a geographical location.
Udta Punjab certainly sounds like an ambitious gamble considering that it stars some of the most commercial actors of Bollywood!
So are you eager to watch this one in theatres? Stay tuned for more updates on Udta Punjab!

An Open Letter To Deepika Padukone

Dear Deepika Padukone
It takes courage to take on a media house and tell them where to draw the line. That they continued to draw some more jagged lines shows their folly in perception.
I'm talking about your 'cleavage chatter' that hit the headlines after your bold tweet to the offending video clip, sometime in September last year.
Our media went into overdrive and it was surprising to see a supplement be so generous in its rebuttal in its display of space which usually goes for anything over Rs 10 lakh! You scored baby, big time!!
You of course, very firmly and gently, put an end to that banter by refusing to go further. Social Media went on, other publications tried to censure the offending media house. It worked both ways: for the media house and for HAPPY NEW YEAR, the film many thought you were promoting by your outburst.
While the offending video clip got eyeballs, print, television and internet mileage, your pertinent disclosure of anxiety and depression recently, went relatively unnoticed.
What a marvellous confession. Hats off to you!
It takes immense fortitude to come out in the open and speak of an issue that is taboo in our society. But that (anxiety and depression) is the biggest malaise of today. Many celebrities have also lost their lives to it; youngsters and adults both go for the noose instead of the root of the cause.
You are a celebrity in your own right and you would very well want to portray yourself as a woman of steel. That everything is hunky-dory. But no, you decide to speak. To let it be known that you too are human and not a superwoman as most in your shoes would like to portray. You decide to speak about your frailty, how you struggled, how you cried, how you felt hopelessly useless and a deep void within.
Working hard and coming to an empty home with no family can take its toll on one's mental and physical health. At the end of the day, family is the closest bond. The best support system. You would have definitely felt that.
It's heartening to note that you are now working on an initiative to create awareness about anxiety and depression, and help people. I believe your team is also working with you to formulate a plan, which you say will be unveiled soon. Pain experienced is the greatest lesson learnt. Lessons imparted to others from ones pain is the greatest form of giving. Very few do it.
I have a suggestion. Since you are from the industry and you fairly well know how it functions, set up a 'support system' for girls who are talented and are looking for a break. A 'support system' for talented girls who are not willing to take the 'broad road' in search of fame but are willing to fight it out. There are plenty of girls who have hit a wall. You know what I am talking about. Most talk about it. How I wish someone would come out in the open and speak about it.
As much as most in the industry would like to deny it, we all know that the casting couch does exist and it's a disease worse than depression.
Young girls looking for a break in this industry who are not connected, I dare say, are suffering because of that. It can get depressing. And for others, after getting that one break and proving themselves, the agony of being overlooked for reasons otherwise. That's super depressing!
Even if 10 girls benefit from this, you would have hit bull's eye with your initiative. It's really enlightening to know that there are people in the industry who want to help others. Happiness is not what you have, but what you give. It's not what you gather that matters, but what you scatter.
I'm sure as years go by, you would be happy to know that you have positively impacted the lives of so many aspiring actresses, who otherwise would have fallen into the pit of anxiety and depression.
Thanks for your boldness. Thanks for your initiative. Thanks for being an 'individual' and standing up for what you believe in. Thanks for being different. Thanks for not trying to fit in!
May your tribe increase!

God Bless You

Celebs : With and Without makeup_Part_4

They don't always have their pancakes handy to doll up and look good. And some days, just being a plain Jane is the way it goes. Here's a look at Bollywood's leading ladies when their makeup artists take the day off.

And hey presto, we see the magic of makeup!

Katrina Kaif's porcelain looks don't need much of a paintbrush to look good. But when the makeup artist does get to it...

She turns into a sexy, sultry star. Quite the winner!

 Kajol is chirpy and pretty.

Her grace and her charm and the dance of emotions in her eyes, and the smile does wonders - ah and forget the make up. She looks pretty either way.

Malaika Arora is one of the hottest item girl of Bollywood.

And she is a natural beauty. Any doubts?

Recognize her? Yes, it is Priyanka Chopra!

Priyanka Chopra is perhaps one of those stars who look very pretty with make up.

Minimal make up works best - Bipasha stands by it

Varun Dhawan John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez to star in DISHOOM

In a recent announcement, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment (NGE) has confirmed that they will be rolling out a new film, DISHOOM, which goes into production soon.
The film will be directed by Rohit Dhawan and will star Varun Dhawan, John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez. Nothing much has been clarified about the film yet; however going by the record, this one too is sure to be an all-out entertainer, just like every other Sajid Nadiadwala film.
PHANTOM, directed by Kabir Khan, Imtiaz Ali's directorial TAMASHA, Sabbir Khan's film with Tiger Shroff and then HOUSEFULL 3 with Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh directed by Sajid Farhad are the other films by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment in the pipeline.

They don't always have their pancakes handy to doll up and look good. And some days, just being a plain Jane is the way it goes. Here's a look at Bollywood's leading ladies when their makeup artists take the day off.

We've never taken the trouble to notice Ms. Patel and her antics very often [they are many], but she makes for a mean clean face. In fact, we much prefer the clean look, than the street walker look she has going on in the next pic.

One of the most ethereal faces in Bollywood, the half-British Katrina Kaif looks as angelic without her face paint on.

But here's what a lil pancake can do. Ms. Kaif makes it to our list of some of the most gorgeous women in world. Anyone care to disagree?

We recently spotted Shilpa Shetty sans makeup and she seemed far from comfortable at being snapped like that. Now we know why, the canvas is so different from the end result!

Sensational Sunny Leone posted this pic of hers on Twitter saying: "Me before the make up! This is the real me with no make up :)"

Oft quoted as being one of the most beautiful women in the world, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also takes days off from being made up and proper for the camera.

Her red carpet styles have come under criticisms very often - but that does not stop us from saying she is pretty.

Here is a look at Rani as she was dashing off for some personal errands - just a smattering of make up on her face.

And this is Rani all dressed up - tell us which version you love. As for us - we like her without make up.

Let's start by saying - we love Kareena. Now, we come to the part about her looks with and without make up.

Did Deepika really advice Katrina Kaif not to marry Ranbir Kapoor

Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone is upset about the rumours of her statement with regards to Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor’s engagement.

Business of Cinema states two versions of the story that were making news in the industry.
First, it all started at a recent award show where Deepika was asked to be a part of a hilarious behind the scenes video, to which the actress agreed happily and answered all the questions spontaneously that were shot at her. Earlier the reports were that Deepika was asked what advice she would give to Katrina Kaif to which the diva rapidly replied, “Don’t marry Ranbir Kapoor”.
The second story goes like this,  during the shoot of behind the scenes video, there were few card board cut outs with different Bollywood celebrity’s face printed on it, Deepika Padukone was asked to pick a card board piece and mention what would she do if she was them. To everybody’s shock, Deepika picked Katrina’s picture cut out and said, “If I was Katrina Kaif, I would marry Ranbir Kapoor.”

Kriti Sanon - the Heropanti girl was spotted in the city. You like her no make up look?

And this, is is just hours afterwards at an award show. Which look do you like?

It needed a second look to identify this actor. Yes, it really is Yami Gautam. Doesn't she look like an ordinary girl next door?

Now, this is during the Lakme Fashion Week. See the difference?

A look at celebs with - and without makeup

It was one rare appearence and Tabu decided to give make up a miss. Age seems to be catching up with her. What do you think?

In one rare sighting, we spotted Sushmita without any make up. Doesn't she look really pretty?

Kareena was in a jiffy - and certainly she has not put on too much of make up. Do you think she is starting to show her age?

And she just looked so natural and amazingly pretty
Shraddha Kapoor is perhaps one of the most talented youngsters in Bollywood now. And here is one rare ocassion that the lady stepped out without her war paints on.
